A boy finds it, bringing it to a pencil factory to be turned into erasers.Īwakened, Spencer seeks out the Beautiful Girl Across the Hall, but finds her with another man. The Man in the Planet is moving levers in his home in space, while the head of Henry Spencer floats in the sky. In 2004, the film was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Its surrealist imagery and sexual undercurrents have been seen as key thematic elements, and its intricate sound design as its technical highlight.
